Training Camp off to a rocky start

Rookies reported last week and veteran's reported this past Wednesday. The news wasn't about the players reporting, instead it was Joe Flacco to miss 3-6 with back soreness. Oh my god push the panic button, time to run out and sign Colin Kaepernick, NOT. Let's get realistic and stop think Madden 2018. If this back issue was bad enough, don't you think Ozzie would be on the phone Wednesday looking for a potential starter to start the season? Instead everyone is freaking out, OMG we need to sign Kaepernick and yes part of the reason he is still unemployed is him standing up, but I am not getting into what is right and what is wrong. It was his opinion. He is not starting material, he was a one shot deal in 2012.However he would be an upgrade at backup, if Ryan Mallett continues to struggle throughout training camp.My biggest issue, would be the media backlash. You release Ray Rice for domestic violence, but yet you would sign Kaepernick, who did not stand for the national anthem. Talk about contradicting yourself. Bring back Rice then. I think the skinny is, if Mallett continues to struggle ( it's only day 2 of camp ) we could see Kaepernick at the right price.

Another bomb came on Thursday morning, when John Urschel announced his retirement from football. Urschel was suppose to battle Ryan Jensen for the center position. If not Urschel was a reliable backup at the guard/center position. So that leaves's three posibilities. Let Jensen and Matt Skura battle it out.. Could be a good battle. Trade for a center as you did for Jeremy Zuttah, already heard Tony Lombardi anyone would be an upgrade over Zuttah. Or sign a remaining free agent. Nick Mangold is still available and was once consider the best center in football, until injuries started to take a toll on him.

Then on Friday's practice with 5 minutes left, Crockett Gillmore suffered a right leg injury. He slammed his helmet down immediately. Tight end play is extremely thin right now. If Gillmore is to miss time that would leave Ben Watson, who is coming off an ACL injury, Nick Boyle who has not played a complete season, and Maxx Williams who has not played a complete season also and was seen on Friday limping around. NEW flash to Ozzie, there are some decent tight ends still out there. Gary Barnidge rings a bell. Larry Donnell who once played with the Giants. Right now they need another veteran TE.

In other news the defense is looking solid against a poor Mallett. Next week should be interesting
